BuscaTrazos is the evocative title Christian 'Mono' Lira gives to his recent series of paintings, where geometry and the play of flat forms in the search for their own color and suggestive structures compete on the canvas to imagine a combination referring to impossible cities and worlds. Areas where it is clear to see his fascination with city life and the world of video games: from these, the painter constructs a network of interchangeable planes and forms, with the help of this "tool" of the design programs 'InDesign' or 'Illustrator', to give a vision of an immaculate world, where the human hand has no possibility of intervention.
In fact, it is striking how in each beautifully executed canvas, the painter's chromatic palette seems to be the same: petrol blues, Pompeian reds and light ochre tones, as if, through compositional chromatism, the artist were making a declaration of principles, linked to an order and rectitude capable of influencing the very architecture of the gallery that houses these works.
Not surprisingly, this has been a classic space in the city's upper-class neighborhood, dedicated to showcasing the best of international design and interior design for decades. This invites the viewer to combine this series of paintings with the calm and time needed in dark times.
Perhaps the paradox these works offer us is precisely the need for calm and silence for contemplation, at a time when it is scarce. However, the painter, confident in his work, explores, taking the time for his art in the frenzy of modern life.
