Allunagio Chair
Diseñador: Achille and Pier Giacomo CastiglioniAllunaggio is an outdoor seat designed in 1965 by Italian designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and produced exclusively since 1980 by Zanotta. This seat celebrates one of the most important stages in the space race, the arrival of man on the moon. Allunaggio won an honorable mention at the 1981 Compasso d'Oro, the year in which it became part of the collection of the Kunstgewerbe Museum in Zurich. The Allunaggio seat resembles the landing of a lunar module. The attempt to imitate this iconic shape in the most stylized way possible allowed the designers to use very simple materials and manufacturing techniques. The result is an entirely green object that blends in with its surroundings. The three filiform legs are characterized by very pronounced curved lines. The object has a strong horizontal component to ensure maximum stability. The large circular polyethylene feet ensure even weight distribution. In general, the thin legs and minimal seating cast a minimal amount of shade on the lawn.
