Inspired by the architecture of Aldo Rossi, it highlights basic geometries in interesting ways. Rossi found inspiration for designing everyday kitchen objects by closely observing coffee pots, saucepans, and bottles in the kitchen of his home on Lake Como, Italy.

The conical shape of the il Conico is complemented by a lid that fits elegantly over the base, and a small sphere at its apex provides grip. The triangular spout, though proportionally small for the body, functions aesthetically, giving the teapot an avian appearance.
The conical shape of the il Conico follows geometric principles such as the rule of thirds and can be effectively analyzed using a 3x3 grid.

It was first published in 1986 in a photograph by Luigi Ghirri in the Triennale exhibition "The Domestic Project," curated by Mario Bellini in 1986, which brought together the design projects of 26 artists and designers who interpreted the archetypes of the home in the modern era. In Rossi's installation, the teapot and coffee pots were oversized and placed on a massive shelf: this is how he interpreted the idea of "domestic space," where objects are symbolically part of that "theater" in which human beings move, helping to create the stage of existence.
