Gabriel Ordeig Cole - Design Biographies
Designer? Interior designer? Master of light? Cultural agitator? Artist? Design editor? Gabriel Ordeig Cole (London, 1954 - Barcelona, 1994) was all these things at the same time, occupying a unique and privileged position in the Spanish design scene of the 1980s. The founding of Santa & Cole allowed him to constantly play with binomials: industry and culture, ethics and aesthetics; artisan tradition and productive innovation, achieving an unrepeatable symbiosis.
In 1985, with the founding of Santa & Cole, he entered the design publishing sector, a business model little known at the time, with the stated goal of promoting a material culture unique to the Mediterranean. He is credited with the recovery of objects now considered classics of Spanish design. This book offers a comprehensive overview of his career, both personal and professional. From the bohemian, passionate, and obsessive Ordeig, to the sensitive and perfectionist designer Ordeig, without forgetting, of course, the unpredictable and dreamy artist.
