Lady Armchair - Powder/Brass
Diseñador: Marco-ZanusoThe Lady armchair, designed by Marco Zanuso in 1951, marked a milestone in the history of industrial design as one of the first pieces made of polyurethane foam and foam rubber. Presented at the 9th Milan Triennale, where it was awarded the Gold Medal, this design revolutionized the concept of comfort and mass production in post-war Italy.
Lady is distinguished by its soft, enveloping shapes, with curved armrests and an organic silhouette and a delicate balance between volume and lightness, accentuated by its slender metal legs. Beyond its aesthetics, its innovation lies in its manufacturing process: a modular system that allowed the seat, backrest, and armrests to be assembled independently, using materials and techniques derived from the automotive industry. This methodology not only optimized production but also improved the chair's ergonomics with differentiated densities in each support area.
Today, Cassina reissues this piece within its I Maestri collection, maintaining its original essence with a selection of exclusive textiles designed by Raf Simons. A masterpiece of Italian design that remains a benchmark of innovation, elegance, and comfort.
