Pulcina 6-Cup Coffee Maker

The Pulcina espresso machine is the result of a long collaboration to create a "moka pot of the 2000s," initiated by Alessi and illycaffè, with the aim of increasing the functionality of the classic moka pot and developing a shape that would enhance the organoleptic properties of coffee. By analyzing the processes that occur inside a moka pot, experts at the illy R&D Laboratory identified the ideal shape to achieve optimal coffee extraction, highlighting its aroma.

The geometry of the Pulcina boiler's internal structure allows for complete coffee dispensing, eliminating the Strombolian effect at the end of the extraction, which causes a burnt and bitter aftertaste. The heart of the coffee maker is encapsulated within a stepped configuration, highlighted by two rounded volumes that, starting from a wider base, form a seamless line. The "V"-shaped spout, reminiscent of a chick's beak, is designed to perfectly cut the drop as the hot beverage is poured into the cup.
